Reba's Law (AB381)

We are pleased and honored to offer our wholehearted endorsement of Melissa Hardy (R) for State Assembly, District 22. We have witnessed for years her unwavering commitment to community service, improving education, thoughtful leadership, and dedication to protecting animals in our state.

After the tragic and brutal murder of Reba the bulldog in 2024, we set out to ensure that penalties for those that hurt animals would be taken more seriously.

We sent letters and emails to every elected leader in the state and Melissa Hardy was only one of two representatives that offered help. Melissa immediately contacted us and together, we created Reba's Bill (AB381). After initially failing in committee and the immediate and extreme public backlash that followed, Reba's Bill was revived and eventually became Reba's Law. Our animals now have the protection they need from the people that continue to harm them thanks to Melissa Hardy.

Melissa brings a rare combination of integrity, intelligence, and compassion to her work. She listens deeply to the concerns of her constituents and approaches challenges with a solutions-oriented mindset. Her background in animal welfare has equipped her with the skills necessary to navigate complex policy issues effectively, such as the recently passed Reba's Law (AB381), which strengthened animal cruelty laws in the state of Nevada.

Moreover, Melissa's collaborative spirit and ability to build consensus make her a strong advocate for positive change. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a passion for improving education, supporting economic development, and championing laws that protect our fur babies. Her track record of results and community engagement speaks volumes about her capability and character.

We are confident that Melissa Hardy will continue to serve the people of our state with honesty, energy, and thoughtful representation. We strongly encourage voters to support her re-election for State Assembly because we can't afford to lose her.
