Where supporters are signing from
Animal lovers from across the United States and Canada are supporting the maximum sentence for Mitchell Fairbarn. Will you join them?
To the Honorable Jacqueline Bluth:
We, the undersigned, respectfully urge the Court to sentence Mitchell Fairbarn to the maximum available prison term of four years following his felony animal cruelty conviction.
Peachy is a living, vulnerable animal who deserves safety and humane treatment. The cruelty inflicted upon her deserves a sentence that reflects the seriousness of the offense, the suffering she endured, and the responsibility we share to protect animals from deliberate harm.
Animals cannot report their abuse, ask for protection, or speak in a courtroom. They depend on people—and our justice system—to hold those who hurt them accountable. The jury has delivered its verdict. We now ask the Court to impose a meaningful consequence.
We respectfully ask that the Court give substantial weight to:
- The seriousness of the cruelty and the suffering inflicted upon Peachy.
- The need to deter others from committing acts of animal abuse.
- The importance of accountability when a defenseless animal is deliberately harmed.
Our request is grounded in the conviction and a firm belief that felony animal cruelty warrants a substantial prison sentence.
Peachy’s suffering must not be dismissed or minimized. Compassion for animals must be reflected in meaningful consequences for those convicted of abusing them.
We respectfully request the full four-year prison sentence for Mitchell Fairbarn. For Peachy. For accountability. For every animal who depends on us to speak.

I believe animals need to be protected from harm. They are innocent and those who prey on the innocent are particularly dangerous. A maximum sentence sends a warning to anyone who may also tend to inflict harm on the innocent and hopeful deter the behavior or at the very least, advise that punishment will be applied accordingly.

I hope the outcome of this case demonstrates accountability; please use the full lawful sentencing range in this case. The harm to Peachy must remain central to sentencing.

I recently moved from Vegas after 25 years there. The flamingos are a commu city treasure. They're loved by the community. It's infuriating that a tourist would torture one of these majestic creatures. Please sentence him to the maximum to set an example to others.

Animals are innocent! While yes, we keep them in contained environments… they are taken care of, they're fed and they’re given medical attention on a regular basis… just like a family member!! The point is, in this environment, WE (Humans) protect them!!!! To have an individual think and then act as an aggressor or as a jokester…. is DEPLORABLE!!!!! Peachy and the whole family of flamingos are a symbol of Las Vegas since 1946!!! That means this individual, chose to “S£IT” on OUR FAMILY & OUR CITY!!! THANK YOU 🙏🏼

All animals should be treated fair and humanely no matter what!! he should get the maximum sentence and do the time deserved for what he’s done! Peachy did not deserve this I know amount of alcohol should have encouraged him to do what he did! He is a second individual and he should serve his time

Because we, as human beings, are responsible for the care & protection of animals, children & elderly / disabled people. Because this man took it upon himself to torture a helpless bird ! Because he had the audacity to laugh about it with his friend !! His friend should be charged also ! This "man" needs to learn a lesson that he can not & will not harm any helpless being in the future !!

This story absolutely broke my heart. Our laws should protect all living beings, especially the vulnerable animals who depend on us for their safety. We need to send a clear message that animal abuse will not be tolerated in Las Vegas. Our beloved residents deserve compassion, protection, and justice. #JusticeforPeachy

Cause we need to stand up for animals and as a person who’s born and raised in Las Vegas, I love having interaction and there’s a fact of the matter that we might not longer have interaction with these animals because of his actions

I'm signing because NV should take a strong stance against all abuse. Abusing an animal should be same sentence as abusing a Human.

Maximum sentence! People that would do something like that to an innocent animal shouldn’t be walking around freely. Someone should grab his neck and twist him around. See how he likes it.

I am signing because Peachy cannot speak for herself. She didn’t deserve that treatment. Mitchell should never be allowed around animals, children or anything vulnerable without supervision.

As a Canadian from Ontario, a pet owner and animal lover, I am thoroughly appalled by Mitchell Fairbairn's cruelty towards Peachy - a defenseless animal. We do not support or condone horrendous actions like this in Canada and it is disgusting to me that Mitchell Fairbairn did not know any better. When I saw the surveillance video of Mitchell Fairbairn grabbing poor Peachy's neck and taunting her like he did I knew this wasn't just a fun "prank". Behavior like this must not be tolerated. Mitchell Fairbairn deserves the maximum sentence as punishment. Let his sentence be a reminder to others that we must respect animals. This type of abhorrent behavior is completely unacceptable.

Because this man committed a heinous crime on a beloved innocent flamingo and must be punished with 4 years in prison (the fullest extent of the law) Being intoxicated is no excuse. As an adult he must take responsibility for his actions. Hopefully his punishment will serve as a deterrent to to others who want to do anything similar that hurts and animal. In addition to his 4 years in prison he should pay a very large fine for the medical care for the animals he hurt and never be allowed to have or be around birds or any animals for his lifetime.
