Compassionate Advocacy in Nevada

Nevada Animal Advocates is a non-profit animal rights organization based in Las Vegas, dedicated to being a relentless voice for the voiceless. In a state that ranks 31st in the nation for animal protection laws, our mission is crystal clear: to drive meaningful legislative change and demand accountability for those who harm, neglect, or kill animals. We are not just a cause—we are a movement for justice.

At Nevada Animal Advocates, we campaign for stronger legal protections and harsher penalties against animal cruelty. Our team works tirelessly to bring awareness to the gaps in Nevada’s legal system and mobilize support for real reform. We are currently working with Nevada State Legislators on Reba’s Law (AB381), a bill aimed at enhancing penalties for animal abuse—especially for acts as heinous as what happened to Reba, a bulldog whose tragic death galvanized our efforts. Assemblywoman Melissa Hardy (R), Assistant Minority Floor Leader (south) is the bill's author and sponsor. She has been a champion for animals in Nevada for years. Please make sure you send her well wishes and thanks for  fighting for our fur babies. melissa.hardy@asm.state.nv.us.

If you’re ready to join a community that refuses to stay silent, we welcome your support. Whether you’re a fellow advocate, a volunteer, or someone simply fed up with the status quo, let’s make our voices heard—together.

A Tragedy That Sparked a Movement

In the heat of a Las Vegas summer in 2024, a bulldog named Reba was left for dead inside a sealed container—an unspeakable act of cruelty that shook our community to its core. Her death was not only tragic; it was preventable. Out of this heartbreak rose a spark: the fight for Reba’s Law (AB381). Named in her honor, the bill aimed to finally enforce meaningful consequences for those who abuse or abandon animals.

But despite overwhelming public support, Reba’s Law never made it past the Judiciary Committee. It was a devastating blow—not just to us as advocates, but to every animal in Nevada. The lawmakers who failed to act had a choice, and they chose silence over justice. It sparked public outrage and Reba's Law was alive again. Today, it continues it's journey through the Nevada Legislature.

Our mission didn’t end with the bill’s death. It intensified. Reba’s story has become a rallying cry, and her legacy will continue to fuel our fight. We will not forget. And we will not stop until every animal in Nevada is protected by the laws they deserve.

A Movement Born from Tragedy: Reba’s Legacy

Our work was ignited by the tragic death of Reba, a bulldog left to die in a sealed container during a Las Vegas summer. Her story galvanized a movement, giving a face and a name to the consequences of weak animal protection laws—and creating momentum that continues to grow.

Legislative Advocacy That Holds Lawmakers Accountable

Nevada Animal Advocates goes beyond awareness—we actively challenge lawmakers who fail to protect animals. After the heartbreaking defeat of Reba’s Law (AB381), we launched efforts to unseat officials who blocked progress, proving our commitment to real political change for animal rights.
